🇵🇹 PORTUGAL ITINERARY (5 DAYS – LISBON + SINTRA + CASCAIS + PORTO)

Budget: €50–120/day


DAY 1 – ARRIVAL + CENTRAL LISBON WALK

Day Summary

Easy start. Explore central Lisbon on foot, adjust to the city, no rushing. You can also use bolt taxi to travel around. Its very less expensive as compared to other major Europe cities, just 3-4 euros for 6-8 Kms


Plan

1. Check-in + Rest (Click here to look at best stay suggestions)

  • Use Metro from airport to city center (Red Line → change lines) or Bolt taxi

  • Cost: ~€2


2. Walk around Baixa

  • Flat area, perfect to start

  • Explore streets and shops


3. Visit Rossio Square

  • Main lively square

  • Good place for photos


4. Sunset at a viewpoint (Miradouro)

  • Walk or take tram

  • Best nearby: Alfama viewpoints


5. Dinner nearby

  • Any local café (€10–15)

  • Food: €20–25


DAY 2 – SINTRA + LISBON OLD CITY

Day Summary

Morning in Sintra (Pena Palace + old town), afternoon back in Lisbon for historic areas.


Plan

1. Lisbon → Sintra

  • Take train from Rossio Station

  • Time: 40 mins

  • Cost: €2.35

  • Start early (around 8 AM)


2. Visit Pena Palace (Exterior Only) Click here to book tickets 

  • Take Bus 434 from station (hop-on tourist bus) or you can simply book a cab there 5 – 10 euro depending on crowd. Bolt/ uber does not work most of time ( taxi mafia problems )

  • Cost: €7.6 round trip

  • Entry (park/exterior): ~€7.5

  • Spend 1.5–2 hours

  • If you like historical things then you can buy interior tickets as well. 


3. Sintra Old Town Walk

  • Walk downhill to center

  • Try local pastry (Travesseiro €2–3)


4. Return to Lisbon

  • Train back to Rossio

  • Reach by 2–3 PM


5. Explore Alfama

  • Narrow streets, local vibe

  • Walk slowly, enjoy views


6. Visit Sé Cathedral


7. Optional: Tram 28 ride

  • Classic Lisbon experience


8. Dinner (Indian)

  • Swagat taste of india

DAY 3 – CASCAIS + BELÉM (COASTAL DAY)

Day Summary

Relaxing coastal day. Beaches in Cascais, then historic Belém — all on one train line.


Plan

1. Lisbon → Cascais

  • Train from Cais do Sodré station

  • Time: 40 mins

  • Cost: €2.35


2. Explore Cascais

  • Walk old town

  • Visit Boca do Inferno (short Uber or bike ride)

  • Relax at beach

  • Spend 2–3 hours


3. Cascais → Belém

  • Take same train back, get down at Belém


4. Visit Belém

  • Walk along river


5. See landmarks

  • Belém Tower

  • Jerónimos Monastery (outside enough)


6. Try Pastéis de Belém

  • Famous custard tart


7. Optional: LX Factory

  • Take tram/bus from Belém


8. Dinner (Indian)

  • Royal Spice Lisbon

  • Gandhi Palace Lisbon

DAY 4 – LISBON TO PORTO + EVENING WALK

Travel to Porto and explore riverside area in the evening.

  • Cost: €10–35 (book early)

3. Evening at Ribeira

  • Walk along river

  • Great atmosphere


4. Visit Dom Luís I Bridge

  • Best at sunset


5. Dinner

DAY 5 – PORTO FULL DAY

Day Summary

Explore Porto city highlights and enjoy one fun indoor attraction.


Plan

1. Visit São Bento Railway Station

  • Famous blue tile artwork


2. Explore city center

  • Walk to Porto Cathedral


3. Visit Livraria Lello

  • Entry ticket required


4. Visit World of Discoveries

  • Interactive museum
