Luxembourg Itinerary

 

  • Day 1 – Luxembourg City → Brussels (Step-by-Step)

    8:30–9:00 AM – Arrive at Luxembourg Airport

    Step 1: Airport → City Centre

    Transport: Free public bus (better than a taxi).

    Take any bus heading towards the city centre (several routes serve the airport).

    Get off at Hamilius (the main city-centre stop).

    Travel time: 20–25 minutes.

    Why not a taxi?

    Taxi: approximately €30–40.

    Bus: Free.

     

    9:30 AM – Breakfast

    Near Hamilius you’ll find many cafés and bakeries.

    Spend around 30–45 minutes.

     

    10:15 AM – Walk to the Cathedral (5 minutes)

    Stop 1

    Notre-Dame Cathedral

    Time: 20 minutes.

     

    10:40 AM – Walk (4 minutes)

    Stop 2

    Place Guillaume II

    Take photos and enjoy the square.

    Time: 20 minutes.

     

    11:00 AM – Walk (2 minutes)

    Stop 3

    Grand Ducal Palace

    Admire the exterior and take pictures.

    Time: 20 minutes.

     

    11:25 AM – Walk (5 minutes)

    Stop 4

    Chemin de la Corniche

    This is the city’s most famous viewpoint.

    Allow 30–45 minutes.

     

    12:15 PM – Walk (10 minutes)

    Stop 5

    Bock Casemates

    Explore the historic fortifications (or enjoy the viewpoints if you prefer not to go inside).

    Time: 45–60 minutes.

     

    1:30 PM – Lunch

    There are plenty of restaurants around the old town.

    Allow about 1 hour.

     

    2:30 PM – Walk (10 minutes)

    Stop 6

    Grund

    Walk through the charming riverside neighbourhood with bridges and old buildings.

    Great for photos.

    Time: 45 minutes.

     

    3:15 PM – Take the Free Lift

    Ride the Pfaffenthal Panoramic Lift.

    Stop 7

    Pfaffenthal Panoramic Lift

    The lift offers fantastic views and is fun for children.

    Spend about 20 minutes.

     

    3:45 PM – Walk (10 minutes)

    Stop 8

    Parc Municipal de Luxembourg

    A relaxing park where kids can play before your train journey.

    Stay for 30–40 minutes.

     

    4:25 PM – Head to the Train Station

    Step 2: Park → Luxembourg Central Station

    Luxembourg railway station

    Transport: Free bus or about a 20-minute walk.

    With luggage and a child, the bus is the better option.

    Aim to reach the station by 4:45 PM.

     

    5:00 PM – Train to Brussels

    Take the direct train to Bruxelles-Midi / Brussel-Zuid.

    Journey time: about 3 hours 20 minutes.
